COVID-19 Response

IMMEDIATE AID RESPONSE TO CURRENT COVID SITUATION

The ISSUE

The pandemic hit an impoverished Asian community with more devastation than in wealthier countries.  Many impacted were daily wage earners who were living day to day, with no savings.  When they lost their jobs, many were stranded far from home. Entire families have been infected with the variants of the virus, with all needing costly medications and treatments at the same time.  Even if an ill person is not hospitalized, they still have the high cost of tests, doctor’s fees, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other necessities.  The reinstatement of tight lockdowns has impacted many lives.

The INSIGHT

Alpha Ministries became aware of the need early and our Frontline Messengers went into action providing help, even before any help arrived to them.  Many Frontline Messengers in Asia live in homes that lack sufficient protection against COVID-19.  Yet they still ministered and served the neediest people.  Our training center was converted to a COVID emergency room.  [insert photo]  Many of our Frontline Messengers and their families are also ill with the virus and some have died.

The IMPACT

With the provision of personal protection equipment (PPE), Alpha Ministries attempted to reduce the impact of this virus. Supplies that would serve an entire fellowship was an expense of $80. We gave the suffering a Relief & Ration Kit to meet the needs of a family for at least one month for just $50. We want to touch needy families during this urgent time of need. A gift of $150 per family will help with medical costs and supply their basic necessities through lockdown. These much-appreciated supplies are of high quality and some even said that the rice was the best they had ever eaten. The new, resistant variants of the virus have tried to slow our response. Yet there are even more open doors of ministry and the long-range impacts of loss and disease will give us new ways to serve the hurting people of Asia. The need continues and we will serve until the pandemic is no longer impacting lives.

The INVESTMENT: $80 to $150
