On Call for God: Answering the Divine Commission

Several years ago, as I prepared for a missions trip, I found myself overwhelmed with concerns—leaving my family, the challenges of ministry, and the uncertainties ahead. The night before, my wife, Lina, reminded me of something simple yet profound:

“Are you called to do this?” she asked.

“I am,” I replied.

“Then go, and don’t worry,” she said.

Her words realigned my heart. I had been relying on myself instead of trusting the One who had called me.

The next morning, after attending a sunrise service, I left for the airport with only $30 in my pocket. But as I boarded my first flight, God was already preparing a testimony. The man sitting next to me was reading a book on C.H. Spurgeon, sparking a conversation about faith. By the time we landed, he handed me $70 and said, “The Lord laid it on my heart to give this to you. I’ll be praying for you.”

I was in awe of God’s provision. In that moment, I experienced what I call “mid-air refueling”—just like military jets refuel mid-flight to complete their mission, God provides for us as we walk in obedience.

The Call of God Is for Everyone

God’s call is not just for a select few; it’s for all who are willing to listen. When Isaiah encountered God’s call, he overheard, “Who will go for us?” (Isaiah 6:8). His response? “Here am I, Lord. Send me.”

Many Christians say, “Use me, Lord!” but fail to make themselves usable. The world is filled with noise and distractions that can drown out God’s voice. But if we keep our ears close to His heart, we will hear Him calling.

Will You Answer?

Revelation 12:11 declares, “They overcame him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

It’s not about us—it’s all about the Lamb!

Before Isaiah responded to God’s call, an angel purified his lips with a burning coal. Today, we are cleansed not by fire, but by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. If our eyes are open, we will see the fields ready for harvest. If our ears are listening, we will hear the cries of a lost world.

God is not looking for perfect people—He’s looking for willing hearts. The question is not whether God is calling, but whether we are listening.

Can you go? Can you pray? Can you send?

Make yourself usable, and God will use you. The call is still open—will you answer?
